Wigmore, Terry

Wigmore, Terry
April 5, 1961 - August 13, 2026

Terry Wigmore, born April 5, 1961, in Hamilton, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital, with family by his side, after a courageous two year battle with cancer.

Terry will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Ruth, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage; his children, Daniel Wigmore (Melanie) and their children Isla, Alma, and Esme; Elissa Gauthier (Connor) and their children Henry and Jameson; and Krista Wigmore. He is also survived by his sister, Cherilyn Wallace (Larry), along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Family was at the centre of Terry’s life. He was an involved father who made it a priority to be present for his children, whether on school field trips, coaching their sports teams, or simply sharing in the everyday moments of their lives. He was equally proud of his five grandchildren, who held a very special place in his heart.

Terry’s faith was an important part of who he was. He spent much of his life studying God’s Word and sharing what he learned with others. He served as a youth sponsor and mentor and taught many Bible studies throughout his life, connecting with people of all ages through small groups, meaningful conversations, and relationships. He sought to live out his faith with integrity and believed strongly in the importance of accountability—the value of having people around us who will encourage us, challenge us, and help us grow.

Terry also believed deeply in forgiveness and second chances. He had a particular heart for young people who were struggling or had nowhere else to turn, and he opened his home and his life to those who needed a safe place and someone willing to believe in them. He understood that mistakes are part of being human and believed that they should not define a person’s future. He was willing to walk alongside people through difficult seasons and give them the opportunity to move forward.

Terry was a man of strong convictions. He cared deeply about what he believed and was not afraid to stand by those convictions. At the same time, his faith was not about claiming to have lived perfectly. He strived to put his beliefs into practice in the way he cared for his family, invested in others, taught Scripture, and extended forgiveness. His life reflected an ongoing effort to live according to the values he held so firmly.

He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly, as well as many people whose lives were touched by his friendship, mentorship, teaching, and willingness to give a second chance. He will be remembered for the ways he showed up for the people he cared about, for the convictions he held, and for the impact he had on those around him.

A service will be held in honour of Terry on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Wellspring Church, 4457 New St, Burlington, ON L7L 1T8, with refreshments to follow.
