Mooney, Scott

Mooney, Scott Robert
March 13, 1968 - July 23, 2025

It is with a broken heart to share the sad news of the passing of Scott Robert Mooney on July 23, 2025.

Scott was the most loyal, devoted and loving husband to Tracey in the 40 years that they were together. His sons, Peyton and Carter, were his everything and he spent his life ensuring that they knew they were loved, were happy, felt supported in their choices and that they remembered to have fun and adventures in their lives. Peyton brought Claire into our lives and Scott finally had a daughter that he could share his love with. And then came Bo, our wonderful grandpuppy, who was with Scott everyday in Hospice and brought love and smiles to everyone.

Scott worked for Magna for 27 years, both in St. Thomas and Milton in a variety of positions. He was key in the development of the use of hydroforming parts when the Modatek plant was built in Milton.

Scott was involved in both the Fergus Minor Hockey and Lacrosse Associations as well as part of the amalgamation of the two centres. He was proud to be a part of both groups whether it was as a coach, a trainer, treasurer or a proud parent.

One of his true loves was spending time with his family, especially at Wakami Lake Provincial Park where we all deepened our love of the outdoors, spending cherished time with family and friends and creating lifelong traditions and memories (usually involving fishing :). In 40 years, Scott and Tracey only missed going to Wakami Lake once, when they welcomed the birth of Carter that summer.

After Scott was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in the summer of 2022, it became a goal to travel and see as much of Canada as he could. Over the next 2 years, he and Tracey succeeded in visiting every province, often with their lifelong friends Ron and Kim Dahmann. They enjoyed every minute of every adventure and these wonderful memories helped them get through the toughest times as the cancer quickly and mercilessly advanced.

Scott is predeceased by his father, George (Nov.2024) and his mother, Janet (Tobin) (July 2025). He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tracey (Sylvestre), his sons Peyton (Claire Hughes) and Carter, his brother Bill (Angie) and his sister Jennifer (Chris). Son-in-law to Sherry Farrand-Sylvestre and the late Jim Farrand and Robert Sylvestre and Joyce Urzada.

Brother-in-law to Lisa Sylvestre (Phil), Todd Sylvestre (Janice) and the late Ryan Sylvestre. He was the beloved and adored Uncle Doc and Uncle Scott to all his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

We would like to express our profound gratitude to Dr. Incitti and all the members of the Geddes Medical Group, the staff at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, our cancer team at Juravinski Cancer Centre, our palliative home team, especially Sam who became part of our family, and the wonderful and amazing staff at Hospice Wellington who made the worst time in our lives bearable.

Our hearts will never be the same without you. We will always love you to the Mooney and back plus 17.

Cremation has already taken place and a celebration of life will be planned for a future date.

If preferred, in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington or Movember in memory of Scott Mooney is appreciated.
