Barbour, Sandra Jean
December 16, 1942 - February 10, 2026

With sorrow we announce the passing of Sandra Jean Barbour, at the age of 83, on Feb 10, 2026, at Margaret’s Place Hospice.

Born in Amherst NS, and with a remarkable gift for conversation, she’d often strike up friendly chats with those she met. Her joy was in connecting with people and always finding common ground, making everyone feel welcome and valued.

Sandra sincerely loved God and his creation and counted her blessings daily while encouraging others to do the same. She married, raised a family, became an excellent cook and a fine hostess. She was part of the Dundas Tennis Club and loved golf, curling, euchre and bridge. She earned a professional designation as a Certified Risk Manager and was a Fellow in the Insurance Institute of Canada. She was a proud Rotarian. Her delight was in art and music, volunteering with the Dundas Valley School of Art and singing with the Central Presbyterian Choir and the Peel Choral Society.

She is predeceased by her parents, E. Douglas and Mabel Hills, and survived by her children Melody-Ann (Richard) Kennedy, and Andrew (Amber) Barbour, her 4 siblings Barbara (late Winston) Peacock, C. Douglas Hills, Linda (Bruce) Jollimore and Timothy (Jo-Anne) Hills. She will be missed by her 5 grands, 9 great-grands, plus nieces and nephews.

Her family expresses thanks to all who ensured her final days were carefully attended to with compassion and grace. As she did not want a funeral, we will honour her wishes and hold a brief service this spring when she is interred at Grace Anglican Cemetery in Waterdown. Donations to Margaret’s Place Hospice or Grace Anglican Church may be made in her memory.
