Long, Kimbra
Long, Kimbra Lynne
March 28, 1963 - August 17, 2025Kimbra Lynne Long (née Claveau), our beloved mother, wife, daughter, and best friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 62 on August 17 in Welland, Ontario.
Kimbra was born on March 28, 1963, in Port Colborne, Ontario. The heart and soul of her family, Kimbra is survived by her loving husband, Robert, her devoted daughters, Emily (Dennis Schultz), Erin (Joseph Frank), and Holly (Benjamin Goldsmith), her grandchildren Robert, Rockford, William, Faye, Hannah, Sienna, and Miles, her mother Gloria (Jim Prentice; stepbrothers Jimmy and Richard), her brother Marc, and her mother-in-law, Lois. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A survivor of Medulloblastoma at age 26, when her family was young, Kimbra asked God to let her raise her daughters – she was able to do that, and then some. She possessed a unique knowledge that life, love, and a relationship with God are gifts to be celebrated each day. She was Robert’s best friend, his foundation, the love of his life. She was her daughters’ best friend, their emotional rock, their spiritual guide, their mom. To her grandchildren, whom she loved so deeply, Kimbra will always be Mima – playful, adoring, irreplaceable.
As her health declined, Kimbra’s faith in God and the gift of life only grew stronger. She was an artist, a singer, a spiritual mystic, and a practical joker par excellence. She loved fiercely. She lived fearlessly. Nothing brought her greater joy than the company of friends and her family. In heaven, Kimbra will be greeted by the warm embrace of her father, Marc, and her father-in-law, Elvin, and her beloved son, Andrew.
A visitation will be held at Wainfleet Be In Christ Church on Friday, August 22, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with the celebration of Kimbra’s life occurring on Saturday, August 23, at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow. For those unable to attend, the celebration of life will be livestreamed here Celebration of Life
Several years ago Dave Klassen introduced Kim to a Nigerian widow living in Jos, Nigeria. Margaret Ahmed lives her life to support the least of these -- widows and orphans. Kim has sent hundreds of dollars over the years as a compassionate response. She requested that donations in lieu of flowers be given to Nigerian Widows. If inspired, feel free to send:
