Small, Gail Dianne
May 6, 1943 - August 23, 2025Gail Dianne Small (nee Collins), age 82, of Cambridge, Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 23 at Hilltop Manor, Cambridge, Ontario.
She was born on May 6, 1943 in Peterborough to Bill and Iva Collins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years. Dearest mother to Danny (Cathy-Jo) and Sheri (Shawn). Beloved Nana to Robyn and Aaron, Grama to Carley and Ben and great Nana to Benjamin and Nikolas. Gail will be missed by her brother Gary (Janice), sister-in-law June, nieces, nephews and family.
She was a larger than life character. She was a knitter extraordinaire and had a passion for gardening, fishing, baking, cooking and the outdoors. She was a ruthless scrabble player and enjoyed the odd scratch ticket (especially when she won a few dollars — which was pretty often). She was happiest when busy and never shied away from hard work. She had a unique sense of style and had a flamboyant cowboy hat for every occasion. She was kind and considerate. She had a great sense of humour and routinely had people in stitches with her famous one-liners. Special thanks to the staff at Hilltop Manor who made her time there special and memorable.
As per Gail’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Donations of sympathy may be made to the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.
