Burtch, Gordon
Burtch, Gordon Morris
June 20, 1963 – March 6, 2026It is with deep sadness and love that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Morris Burtch on March 6, 2026, at his home in Guelph, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Gord was the devoted husband of Jo-ann and the loving father of Jen (Julian) and Amy. He took immense pride in being Papa to his granddaughter, Mara, who adored him dearly. He also shared a special bond with his grandkitty, Winston.
He will be greatly missed by his sister Aileen (late Tom) and his brothers Charlie (Marge) and Doug (Marcy). Gord is now reunited with his parents, Jim and June. He was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews, and a cherished friend to many who thought the world of him.
Gord felt most at peace on the water, driving his boat or sitting on the deck at the cottage overlooking Georgian Bay. He took great pride in building his oasis there—a place meant to be enjoyed and shared with the people he loved. Whether sharing a good rum or his unmistakable laugh, Gord had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome and special. When he was around, you knew you were going to have a good time.
He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and never expected anything in return. His quiet kindness, generosity, and steadfast devotion to those in his life will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Gord taught those around him the meaning of presence, selflessness, and appreciating life’s simple moments. He showed us that a beautiful life does not require much—just the people you love, time spent together, and memories made along the way. The life he built and the memories he gave will remain a source of gratitude and comfort to all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, Guelph General Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, and Bayshore Home Care for their kindness and incredible care throughout this journey.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Gord’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or donating blood in his honour to Canadian Blood Services.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bourgeois Community Centre (Community Hall) in Midland, Ontario.
