Deller, Douglas Marvin
February 7, 1942 - September 6, 2025It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Douglas Marvin Deller, at the age of 83, on September 6, 2025.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Louise, and was predeceased by his wife, Marcia. Father to Kerry (Steve) and Scott, and a proud stepfather to Denise (Chris), Kelly (predeceased by Steve), Paula (Jim), Peppi (Vince), Alana (Tim), Heidi (Josh), and Tracey.
Doug will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Keith (Glenna) and Murray (Marjan).
Doug had a long and distinguished career with the Peel District School Board for 34 years and served as Vice-President of the Ontario Public School Teachers’ Federation. He was passionate about education and made a lasting impact on many students and colleagues throughout his career.
In his leisure time, Doug enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was an avid model airplane builder and an active member of the Georgetown Flying Club. A talented photographer, he developed his own photos in the darkroom he built in his basement on Mill Street North. Later in life, Doug discovered a love for wood carving and painting. He also found great joy in travelling and exploring new places.
Friends and family will miss his ready sense of humor, his deep love for children and dogs, and his courageous openness about his dementia, which made it easier for everyone to face the challenges together
A celebration of life will be held Sunday September 28, 2025 beginning at 2pm-4pm at Riverside residence, 685 Woolwich Street, Guelph, Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
