In Loving Memory of Bonnie DeVries
March 30, 1949 - October 3, 2025On October 3rd, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, Bonnie DeVries peacefully completed her courageous five-year battle with cancer. True to her spirit, she fought with grit, humor, and unwavering love until the very end.
Bonnie was the heart of her family—an incredible wife, mom, grandma, GG and friend. She shared over 40 wonderful years with the love of her life, Fred, including 37 years of marriage filled with laughter and countless memories. Together they built a home filled with love and joy that will continue to live on through their family.
She was the proud and loving mom to Billy (Rhonda), Tammy (Terry), and Jonathan (Chelsee), who always knew Mom’s kitchen was open and her advice was free (whether you asked for it or not). Bonnie’s greatest joy was being “Grandma” and “GG” to her amazing crew: Vince (Rachel), Jessica (Trever), Jodie (Mario), Greyson (her VIP), Ainsley (her MVP), Beckett (forever “Sir Beckett”), and GG to Emma, Micah, Lincoln, Aeris, Carmen, and Chloe. Each of them knew they were her favorite—and each of them was right.
Bonnie’s life was defined by her love, her humor, and her ability to make everyone feel special. She believed in celebrating life, not mourning it. In true Bonnie fashion, she didn’t want a funeral or visitation. Instead, she requested “one last party”—a celebration of her life that will be held at a later date, filled with stories, laughter, and maybe even a drink or two.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Canadian Lung Association.
Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and joy that will continue to shine through everyone who was blessed to know her. She was one-of-a-kind, and her sparkle will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
