Hopgood, Thomas Sydney
February 16, 1948 - August 3, 2026Thomas Sydney Hopgood, 78, of Guelph, Ontario, sadly passed away on August 3, 2026.
He was born to parents Thomas and Ada Hopgood on February 16, 1948 in St. Catharines, Ontario.
He is survived by his Wife Suzanne, children Tom (Terri) and Leeanne (Brian), grandchildren Thomas and Taylor, brother Jim Hopgood, Sister Barb (Elgin), Sister Caro l(Danny), Brother Bob, Sister Pam (Donny), nieces and nephews Amber, April, Brooke, Brett, Erin, Greg, Josh, Kyle, Phillip, and Elliot.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Wendy (Jim), brother Ted, and parents Tom and Ada.
Tom worked for Heer’s Decorating for 30 plus years as a Technical Coatings Rep. He had many great co-workers that kept him coming back each day.
Beyond work, he loved sports (lacrosse, hockey and more recently baseball (go jays go!!) and animals (especially his dogs Cisco and Miggsy who he has now reunited with and feeding lots of treats we are sure) and current grand pets Maggie, Murphy, and Jimmy.
In addition to spoiling his pets, All the dogs in his building knew where to go for treats.
His version of diet involved all foods with sugar. There wasn’t a candy, licorice, chocolate, or junk food he hadn’t sampled a little or a lot. Yet he defied science and although big in energy and voice, he kept his tiny frame miraculously regardless of the junk food diet. It must have been the balance with his Tim Hortons steeped tea’s.

We would like to thank the entire staff at Guelph General Hospital (Dr Minich) for their support over the years, the amazing PSW’s at CBI whose help made getting through each day possible and to Dr Luong-you are absolutely incredible!!!!
There will be a private family event at a later date.
