Alexander (Sandy) James Kempt, Sr
August 11, 1930 - August 2, 2025With heavy hearts we share that Dad died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family; just shy of celebrating his 95th birthday. He is predeceased by his loving wife and dance partner Evelyn (2002) and is survived by his last remaining sibling Elmer (Linda). We just know that Dad has been reunited with the rest of his family and he and his brother Jack are leading an old-fashioned Cape Breton kitchen party.
He leaves behind a legacy of love in his five children and their spouses Terry (Gary) Matheson, Cindy (Graham) Holt, Alex, Jr (Joann) Kempt, Nancy (Russ) Wank; Tim (Christine) Kempt; Eleven grandchildren; Tara (Andrew) Chisholm, Diane (Jose) Jimenez, Kayla (John) MacDonald, Chelsey Holt (Joseph Turner), Dale (Amber) Kempt, Katie (Parker) Holyomes, Lyndsey (Carson) Campbell, Laura (Andy) Ungureanu, Stephanie, Bev, & Sarah Kempt (Sam Marrello); and twelve great grandchildren: Aeva, Alex, Trent & Eli Chisholm; Felix & Christian Jimenez; Jordan & Carter Kempt; Jack Holyomes; Cole & Levi Campbell; Lily Ungureanu
Heartfelt thanks and much love to staff of Stedman Hospice, Dr. McNeil, Tara, Dr. Paris, all the nurses (Laura) and PSW's who lovingly tended to all Dad’s needs. There aren’t enough words to be said that would adequately express our gratitude for the peace this allowed our family to have during dad’s final days with us. Angels do truly walk amongst us on earth.
On August 11, which would have been Dad's 95th birthday, a private graveside service will take place where Dad will be laid to rest beside Mom. A family celebration of his life will follow for us all to share our love, tears and laughter for a life well lived.
