Kessler, Klaus

Kessler, Klaus G.
November 2, 1934 - April 23, 2025

A beloved husband, Pa, Opa, and friend, Klaus passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 90, following a brief but serious illness. He was surrounded by the love and comfort of family and gentle, supportive hospice care during his final hours.

Born on November 2, 1934, in Osterburg, Germany, Klaus immigrated to Montreal, Canada, in 1957. In 1958, his beloved Gitti joined him, and they were married within a week of her arrival — beginning a partnership that would span nearly 67 years.

Together, they built a life in Montreal, raising their young family there through the 1960s and the early 1970s. In 1976, they relocated to Ontario, continuing to nurture the close-knit family that was always at the heart of Klaus’s life.

Klaus began his career as a technician and rose to a position of executive vice president. During the years when Klaus was established as a leader in the tech industry, he became a member of the Rotary Club. Here he had the opportunity to embrace his love of public speaking through numerous engagements and competitions. Then, in response to the challenges of being downsized in the late 80's, he launched his own business before ultimately returning to the workforce as an international service manager for IMAX — a role that allowed him to travel the world.

He enjoyed DIY projects, woodworking, gourmet cooking, cross-country skiing, mountain hikes, sailing, and singing in the church choir. In later years, he turned his love of storytelling and speeches into a passion for writing, self-publishing three books that reflected his thoughtful, creative spirit.

Klaus was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He is remembered for his gentle presence, his dry wit, and the quiet loyalty with which he supported those closest to him. Klaus will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Margitta, his children, Frank (Josie), Monica (Dwayne), Ingrid (Rick), and his grandchildren — Stefan (Sarah), Marcus (Jessica), Aidan (Lauren), and Hali.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Lutheran Anglican Church in Guelph, Ontario. A light lunch reception will follow in the hall below the Church. All who knew Klaus are warmly invited to attend and help celebrate his life.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Guelph General Hospital and the compassionate team at Hospice Wellington, where Klaus spent his final hours in comfort and dignity.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice Wellington or All Saints Lutheran Anglican Church (Guelph) in Klaus’s memory is a way to carry forward the compassionate care he received and the quiet faith that supported him throughout his life.
