Munn, Ken
Munn, Kenneth Harold
March 21, 1942 – December 24, 2025Surrounded by love, Kenneth Harold Munn passed away on December 24, 2025 at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus at the age of 83. One of three children, Ken was born in Palmerston, ON on March 21, 1942 to parents David and Eleanor (Holliday) Munn of Salem. He was predeceased by his twin brother Keith and sister Barbara.
Ken leaves behind his wife and companion of 54 years, Joan Munn (nee McDougall) and will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Karri (Trefor) and son Bryce (Marsha). He was a proud, caring, and cheerful Grampa to Wesley, Gabriel, Katelyn (Alexandra), Oscar, and Naomi. Ken was also a dear friend to many. We will all miss him immensely.
Ken was a happy, easy-going man, with a quick laugh and a kind smile. He told fabulous stories about the adventures of his Norman Rockwell childhood with Keith, and the misadventures of his youth shared with his brother and lifelong friends. Ken began his career in banking and went on to serve as Director of Finance for United Breeders for 27 years. That is where he met his wife Joan, the feisty newcomer from Toronto. They settled in Elora and together raised a family.
Having run track and also played competitive hockey and lacrosse as an adolescent, Ken maintained an active lifestyle well into old age. From hockey to curling, and softball to golf to cards, Ken was always up for some fun competition. He was an avid fisherman and spent countless hours with his buddies (and often his children) on the water. He also loved to hunt, mostly, for the camaraderie it provided; he passed this passion on to both his son and son-in-law.
In his retirement, Ken continued to enjoy good times and good laughs with his many friends. He and Joan spent several winters in Eufaula, Alabama, a community that for many years was their second home. Ken was a calm, fun-loving man who loved to read, and in his later years created beautiful watercolour paintings. Both of his granddaughters inherited his artistic gifts.
As Ken wished, he has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, January 30 from 1-4pm at the Elora Legion. Friends, neighbours, and relatives are invited to share condolences below or contribute memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
