Moffatt, Jessie

Moffatt, Jessie
May 9, 1935 - June 9, 2025

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Jessie on June 9, 2025. One month earlier Jess had a joyous celebration with family and friends for her 90th birthday which included a Bagpiper!

In 1954 Jess as planned followed her boyfriend, Gil Moffatt and immigrated to Canada from Glasgow, Scotland. They married in 1956 and had 2 children, Karen and Rick.  Although that marriage dissolved after 22 years, everyone remained friendly for all occasions. Jess had a loving bond with her sister, Christine whom she brought to Canada following the death of their parents for both at a very young age. Jess had 4 grandchildren and she was extremely close and proud of her youngest grandson, Graham.  She also enjoyed a wonderful relationship with her son-in-law, Kent.

While living in Scarborough as a married working mother of 2 children, over 20 years, Jess attended university during nights and in the summer to eventually graduate from University and Teacher's College. Jess taught Business and Horticulture at Bendale Collegiate Institute. She is remembered fondly by many of her students.

Jess was a very social person with many lifelong friends. She engaged in many activities such as, golf, curling, and ballroom dancing. Jess was also an avid traveler and was lucky enough to visit many parts of the globe. Her favourite activity was shopping and she will always be remembered by many as glamourous and stylish. She remained this until the end, hence she chose her own obituary photograph!

You will live on in our memories! Love Karen, Rick, Christine, Kent, and Graham.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Joseph's Long Term Care in Guelph for their care and compassion over the last 18 months.

There will be no formal funeral, Jess has been cremated and her family will disperse her ashes privately.

*In lieu of flowers if compelled you can make a donation to your favourite charity.*
