Sankey, David

Sankey, David
March 2, 1959 - April 21, 2026

It is with deep sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of David (“Dave”) Sankey on April 21, 2026, at the young age of 67, after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Dave faced his illness with dignity and grace and passed away at home, surrounded by his family.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Suzanne, and his children: Tara (Ryan), Kayla, and Michelle (Jordan). Dave was a proud and devoted grandfather to Nash, Norah, Maverick, Leona, and Hallie, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his mother, Heather Ridge.

Dave cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed being at the hockey rink, cheering on and supporting the moments that meant so much to him.

Dave built a strong and varied career. He worked for many years at Procter & Gamble, Hamilton, Ontario, until the plant’s closure, later serving as Manager of Life Safety and Security at Scotia Plaza in Toronto.  He went on to pursue his entrepreneurial spirt through his own artificial turf installation business and later as an electrical contractor.

Dave will be remembered for his strength, quiet resilience, and the love he had for his family. He had a generous spirit and was always there for others, never hesitating to lend a hand to neighbours and friends. He was known for cracking jokes, using his humour to make those around him feel comfortable and at ease.

As per Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.  A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on May 24th at the Black Swan Kitchen Pub in North Burlington.

Dave will be deeply missed and forever remembered, living on in the hearts of all of us.
