Burlington, Ontario - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Nevans, who left us peacefully at home in Burlington, Ontario, on September 22, 2025, at the age of 68, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born on September 1, 1957 in Hamilton, Ontario, to Ian and Helen Nevans. He spent his earliest years there before later moving to Burlington at the age of seven. Mike attended Holy Rosary School, where he met the childhood friends who would remain his closest companions throughout his life. He then attended Aldershot High School, where he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart Cathy. He went on to build a family and a livelihood here in Burlington, where he built a career as the co-owner of James Michael Appraisal for over 35 years.
Mike will be remembered for his quick wit, mischievous humour, immense love for his family and friends, and a fierce passion for sports. He was an avid golfer and truly found his calling as a soccer coach in both the Burlington Youth Soccer Club and Oakville Soccer Club.
Mike is lovingly remembered by his father Ian, his wife Cathy, his children Sean (Carolyn), Andrew (Lorena), and Caitlin (Tag), and his grandchildren Brooklyn, Gavin, and Landon, who adored their cheeky Grampie. Much-loved son-in-law of Ruth Almas and brother-in-law of Wendy (Bob), Cheryl (Rod), and Wayne (Brenda). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Helen Nevans and his father-in-law Fred Almas.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Burlington Golf and Country Club, 422 North Shore Blvd E, Burlington, ON. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Assistance Program in Mike's memory.
