May 1, 1944 – October 1, 2025It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dorothy Margaret Yelland on October 1, 2025, following a tragic motor vehicle crash. Born on May 1, 1944, Dorothy lived a life full of compassion, resilience, and vibrant social connections.
Dorothy was a retired nurse whose dedication to caring for others extended far beyond her professional life. She was deeply involved in her sorority for many years and maintained an active social life, always choosing to be out and about with friends and family—even when her health made it challenging. Her strength and determination were a testament to her spirited nature.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Bill Cumming (Susanne); her children Catherine Yelland (Andrew), Robert Yelland (Karla), Julie Yelland (Jamie), and Alison Yelland; and her 14 cherished grandchildren: Tyler (Ashlyn), Elizabeth, Liam, Rebecca, Aydan, Matthew, Carson, Mackenzie, Ryan, Rachel, Danica, Ashley, Gavin, and Madison. Dorothy also leaves behind many lifelong friends, new friends, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Dorothy’s warmth, wit, and unwavering love touched everyone she met. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will be a guiding light for her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place, and a private service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held at a later date with close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
